About Dr. Johnson

Dr. Johnson is a federal aviation (FAA) medical examiner, federal employee medical examiner, air traffic controller medical examiner, and a HIMS aviation medical examiner.

He examines pilots based on the FAA medical standards, ensuring that airmen and air traffic controllers are emotionally and medically fit to perform the duties delineated in the medical class.

Dr. Johnson received his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Texas and Galveston, and got his PhD in organic chemistry from Rice University in Houston. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Texas health science Center in Houston. He made cancer history by conducting research in lung cancer at MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he completed his fellowship in medical oncology. Dr. Johnson has taken care of patients with practically every cancer known to man while at the world-renowned University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Johnson’s community service includes Chairman of the Board of HCA hospital in Tomball and also membership to the board of the Harris Health System, the third largest safety net hospital system in the nation.

Dr. Johnson is authorized by the FAA administrator to evaluate pilots in all classes — class one class two, and class three — including complicated medical conditions. He is an HIMS Aviation medical examiner, evaluating pilots with issues such as mood disorders and substance abuse disorders.
